Tucked into the woods of the Catskills, this woodland retreat is a serene, small-scale getaway we designed as a quiet response to its natural setting. This project blends contemporary architecture with rustic materials to create a contemplative space that feels fully immersed in the surrounding landscape.
Our design approach prioritizes simplicity and function, with an emphasis on clean lines, warm wood finishes, and an efficient footprint. Large windows bring the outdoors in, while carefully positioned spaces allow for privacy, relaxation, and a strong connection to the forested site.
Though compact, the retreat includes all the essentials: an open living area, cozy sleeping quarters, and thoughtful transitions between interior and exterior. The exterior palette of wood and black accents offers a modern contrast to the soft greens and browns of the surrounding woods.
Woodland Retreat reflects our approach to modern cabin design in the Hudson Valley—rooted in the landscape, restrained in expression, and carefully considered in every detail.
